Rule1. The opening and the closing words of a speech are the ones that make the major impression. In the beginning, you need to introduce yourself and tell a humorous story so that you may catch the attention of the guests.

Rule2. Do not rely only on your memory, and think you will stand up and just start speaking. You should have a paper in your pocket, which will help you if you feel you need it.

Rule3. No matter who is giving the speech or toast, there will be an order of sorts in the direction taken. The Bride comes first with the litany of how beautiful she looks. The Groom comes second with how lucky he is to have such a lovely Bride.

There are some exceptions of the order. For instance, second only to the birth of her first child, this is the most important day in any Bride's life.

Rule4. Try to make your speech to be brief but meaningful.

Rule5. Never to say hurtful or negative words about the families of the Bride or the Groom. That is strictly taboo.
